What started as a joke on Twitter this week turned out to be true.
Today, I feel torn by this shock revelation, but it is, in fact, a true finding. The hit 90s song "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia was originally released back in 1995 by Danish singer, Lis Sørensen, as 'Brændt' ('Burned'), but was later released in 1997 when Natalie worked with original producer Phil Thornalley on her version that took the world by storm. "Torn" is actually a double cover of a kind as it was written by Scott Cutler and Anne Preven in 1993 with their band Ednaswap performing it live. So as birthday's go, @VillinskiKonjic on Twitter rightly points out that three birthdays pass with three variations of the same song. Listen and compare both variations below. Sorry, but Torn is still favoured here at Retro Oldies HQ!
